Trading my bike

Cooks has a few good bikes that i would be interested in. Need some help with pros and cons.

02 R6 carbed, little damage, 18k, salvage title. stock $3650
03 R6 EFI, 8k needs front fairings, salvage title, "new"tires, exhaust, needs front but i don't know how bad the wreck was. could of tweaked the forks. $3450
05 gsx-r 600 18k stock minor damage needs shift lever $4550
04 Kawasaki 636 Muzzy pipe, minor cosmetic damage, Mileage: 16K Title: Salvage $3950

tell me what you guys think

you didnt know that a 03 636 was a FI bike and bought it thinking it was supposed to be carbed.... go buy a bike that isnt wrecked and needs some sort of repair, you dont wanna get hurt do you?

it said 03 i knew they were EFi in 03 he brought it down and i said screw it. I was not worried about the carbed i'm fine with a carbed bike but the other crap just came out of no where.

yea not that hard.....

you might want to hit up ebay and get a factory service manual for your bike/engine......(if you know what year its out of) so that you have all the torque specs. you can find em for like 10 bucks and download it

ive been on both the pre 07 600rr and an 07 gixxer 6. would have to say i like the 600rr a little better but the gixxer didnt ride bad at all.

Jason, im sorry but theres just too much ignorance right now in what your saying. Theres a reason that the 600cc CBR has been the best selling sport bike thus far. Not just untill last year. They have always been amazing machines and the pre 07's are just as good of bikes as the 07's becasue they are the ones that built the CBR name up to what it is today. And the mid 90's gixxers up to the 2005 ones are also freaking awesome bikes and have near perfect repuatations. Thats why the gixxer name is so popular.

07 CBR won alot of reviews and shootouts last year... too bad 07 zx6r still won AMA supersport :P Just gotta throw that in there. Though with the tiny pretty much insignificant changes to the gixxer 6 and r6, probably honda will win reviews again this year. :roll: and kawis will take all the races :twisted:

also cbrs have the looks to go with the ride... but i guess that is for each guy to decide on his own.

oh get butt hurt jim.... 06 cbr would be fine but i'm not looking for a bike of that sorts. styling is not the best. 07-08 i would own and have thought about it more than once. as for gixxer if i wanted a 1000 it would be between gsxr1000 or R1. why i have a kawi....i don't know.
07-08 cbr's are the best bike bar none and thats a fact. r6 is a pure race bike. its like owning a bike of the track. both cbr and r6 have about the same styling with the r6r really being drastic sharp corners and i'm not into that. thats why i want a r6s which is like the 03-05 models.
cbr's have amazing sound which even your 06 sounds like a beast.
07 gixxer front looks like dick the mirrors with blinkers just don't do it for me if i wanted that i'd rock a cruiser
an 08 zx6r would be fine but not top of my list. could be a biased opinion because of the mutt i ride now.

as a list i want
1 r6s
2 cbr 600rr
3 r6r
4 zx6r
5 gsxr600

insurance and money is the issue so i would benefit from the r6s the most because i won't pay a lot for insurance and payment as i would with the RR or R6R

word. i would ride an 05 gixxer. i do not like the way the new ones look or ride. they just feel funny for some reason. you guys who know my cousin need to ride his bike sometime, you will understand what im saying then prolly...

i agree with you for the most part on this. except for the fact that yamaha is gonna win all the 600cc AMA races this year. Roger Hayden is really good and his bro is my favorite Motogp rider, but Bostrom on his yammie is gonna be a force to be reckoned with. did you see daytona? Roger had nothin for the yammie guys! cant wait till the next race i think its next weekend! Motogp is this weekend :D

Im not butt hurt, and im not biased toward Honda just because I own one, but the reason I own one is because of the reputation, which is why all my street bikes and dirt bikes I've ever owned have been Honda. Its just a pet peeve of mine when people judge things based up personal biases though. Like when you said you said you wouldnt own an 06 CBR cause the styling isnt the best. Well, thats up to opinion. And the 07-08 CBRs are not the best bike bar none. They won many awards yes, but if you want a 1000, then the CBR doesnt look so good against a zixxer10 or R1. In all honesty, and lots of people will tell you this, the technology and design that the BIG 4 put into there 600's is soo similar now, its all about the rider when it comes to a race, and personal preference when choosing on looks. Ok, done ranting. Lub joo Jason. Its gonna be hella hella nice next week. You need to make a decision fast so we can hit the streets.

oh and edit: The R6s sounds like a really really good choice. Its what i was gonna get after i sold the F4 (which i regret tremendously.)

Any 07 supersport bike is going to be similair. As far as the supersport shootout they tested the 07 zx6r without the jumper mod (which restricts 5 proven hp to the wheel)which the other brands didn't have to worry about. Really they are all the same it's like Jim says it's all about personal preference. My 07 is already putting down 108 to the wheel without tuning which is about 10 more hp than any 600 tested in lincoln with just exhaust and a k&n. It put down 101.5hp bone stock which is 3 more hp than the 06 r6 tested with a slip-on.

Point is choose which bike you like the looks of.

ya, true it is older, but its so fuckin sweet they just keep on making them. the front suspension is one of the best that has ever been put on any sportbike, even though the forks arent inverted, or the technology isnt new. but yea i loved mine, oulda never got rid of it if it wasnt so beat up and had so many miles.

for a person who just joy rides doesn't do any track days and doesn't stunt the S is probably the best for them. More tame in the streets can still handle with the RR's and r6's and anything with an r but its just more refined plus i might of got a good deal with a 06 R6 and with a 07 r6s. its not i don't like the other bikes they are about the same its the fact that i rode r6 before anything and liked it.

i wouldnt necessarily say "tuned down" you gotta remember that that bike once was the R6r. they changed alot but the motor in that thing is just as mean as any of the "R's" out there now.
