95gsx
08-09-2008, 01:26 PM

Nickels
08-09-2008, 01:47 PM

Mr. Jeff
08-09-2008, 01:53 PM

Mr. Jeff

to a pocket bike, oil is oil. dont be "that guy"
01F4izzy
08-09-2008, 05:42 PM
yes its a two cycle motor meaning it needs oil in the gas mixture
2 STROKES need oil in the gas... i dont think 2 cycles do, but you can try it if you want...
Nickels
08-09-2008, 05:54 PM
uhhhh k
jaceface
08-09-2008, 07:35 PM
uhhh wow, 2 stroke and 2 cycle are the same fucking thing. and i hope that expensive mobil1 your putting in that thing is 2 stroke motor oil, cuz it does take a special kind of oil....
95gsx
08-09-2008, 09:08 PM
tell nick.
01F4izzy

well i dont think the motor in a pocket bike is 2 stroke or 2 cycle or whatever. i dont think you have to mix the oil and gas. well could be but the only one ive ever put oil in it didnt need to be mixed
jaceface
08-09-2008, 10:21 PM
just cuz it doesnt have to be mixed with the gas doesnt mean its not a 2 cycle, some are metered oil injection. and its nothing new, ive got 30 some year old vespa sitting at the shop that has it
Nickels
08-09-2008, 10:23 PM
I dont think Jake knows anything about motors...
Nickels
08-09-2008, 10:23 PM
Jake, do you know what the difference between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke is?
95gsx
08-09-2008, 10:59 PM
this is a motor that needs oil. don't know why everyone is getting bent out of shape. no matter what oil i use be it an expensive brand or not. oil is oil. and its mixed for this motor. it honestly is not that much but either way it needs it because it has no other lubrication method
Mr. Jeff
08-10-2008, 04:36 AM
2 stroke and 4 stroke oil is not the same
01F4izzy
08-10-2008, 05:40 AM
yes i know a little bit about motors, just from dirtbikes, alls i know is 2 smokes, you mix the gas and oil, and is a much simpler design alot easier to maintain and there isnt as many moving parts. 4 strokes are alot more difficult To maintain and rebuild. and you dont mix the gas and oil.
there is some 2 strokes with oil injection though
and no 2 stroke oil is not the same as 4 stroke oil...
im only talkin from what i know from dirtbikes so if i got anything wrong correct me.
Mr. Jeff
08-10-2008, 05:53 AM
you got it!!!

2 strokes blow up a lot faster then 4 strokes though. 2 strokes are a "high strung" engine if that makes any sense.

thats only because they don't have a completely dedicated oiling system like a 4 stroke. Mixing the fuel with the oil means no matter what you do, it won't have the lubricating properties the oil for 4 strokes does.
A 2 stroke is also a hell of a lot simpler, making it cheap and easy to rebuild.

08-11-2008, 01:43 AM
easy, yes but I dont know about cheap. I was looking for some engine parts for my rm250 and the places that did have the items quoted me some ridiculously high prices. It is an 85 though. May have something to do with it.
Burntz
08-11-2008, 05:43 AM
ya cuz its older. supply/demand. not many ppl actively use 85's.. haha. Im talkin if you race motorcross and you got a decently new dirtbike. Its cheap compared to rebuilding a regular crotch rocket
triumph955i
08-11-2008, 03:05 PM
True. haha its only 23 years old
jaceface
08-11-2008, 07:05 PM
oh yea, easy as pie...... except for if you screw up a fuel mixture screw you toast the motor.....
Nickels
08-11-2008, 11:17 PM
Of course its easier than a crotch rocket..
