Yea I would love to...problem is I need at least 10k for college. And with the money I have left from the car I wouldn't have near enough for that bike. Plus I have never rode a bike before...I think this 650 might be a great starter bike for me you know?

The Reaper

Yea it would be a good starter bike for sure. Are you buying used?

Go to Craigslist, there are some decent bikes on there for decent prices. If you get a 650, you will probably be bored with it in about a month.. I got bored with my first bike after like a week, and am kinda already bored with my bike now..

anyway, Welcome

older r6 is a good bike not enough low and very little range means its nice to ride as a beginner twist the throttle and you might not flip it.

Well I have never rode a bike before, don't you guys think the power of the 650 would be good to begin with? And to answer the previous question I want to buy new. An 08 or 07 if any new left.

07 r6s is 8300 i think and if you know people you get discounts. its like an 03-05 yamaha R6 and a very good starter bike. 650 is fine but more bang for your buck with the r6

Yea I have heard good things about the r6 and to tell ya the truth if I could I would probably get it over the ninja. But I just don't have the money to. I need at least 10k that I get from my car to go to college funds and I am sure that I won't have more than 4k left. And then the rest comes out of my pocket to buy the bike. And my pockets don't exactly have a fortune in them hahah. Only thing would be is if I saved up and waited till the spring of next year. But I want it now, sounds bad but I have wanted one sooooo long.

I started on a 83 Yamaha xs400 adn got bored with it maybe a week later.. The first bike i ever rode was a 03 CBR 600RR, Did about 100 my first time ever on a bike, and on those, it feels like nothing (until you remember, you dont really know how to lean yet, lol). About a month and a half ago i bought my 05 Honda Shadow 750, maybe a week or 2 later, i was wanting something faster again, but like having a comfy cruiser to ride on. My 2 cents, go big or go home. If its to big of a bike for you.. dont give it full throttle. Maybe loosen the throttle cable a bit, so you it wont go wot, dunno if that will work, but it sounded good.

i know a few peolpe with the kawi 650 and they are very happy with it, it keeps up with any other 600 out there. look at the sv650 from suzuki, an 08 goes for 75ish from starcity. i have been on one of these, and they are a blast and you can clutch a wheelie up pretty easy!!

Yea I have heard that the 650 is capable of a wheelie....and I also heard that the kawi 650's can beat super sports up to around 60 mph....but anything after that they will pretty much get toasted. But overall I will not have to worry about that for a long time. I need to learn how to ride a damn bike first! Problem is I don't have any friends that have a bike....so I have nothing to learn on.

the kawi 650 or suzuki 650 are both good choices for a first bike if you are buying new, and for that price range. plus there is a bunch of stuff you can do to both bikes to improve the power and handling. if you do by a new bike from starcity or rods there is going to be fraight, and set-up fee's aswell. that adds up to about $1k. i would really look for something thats a little older, not much older, b ut maybe a honda F4i or suzuki gsxr 600. you'll be able to find a really nice one, maybe with some mods on it already for $3-$6k range.

A Kawi 650 will not come close to keeping up with any 600. They have half of the horsepower and weigh about 20lbs more. They are good starter bikes though.

At this point I really don't care about power...I just want to ride a bike, I know I am going to love it. I will worry about higher the probability of killing myself down the road

Hey I got a question for anyone here. How did you guys learn how to ride? I have no and I mean NO experience (besides the bike I have, but it doesn't have a motor in it). I am taking a class in July but I would like to have experience before then. So what did you guys do and what should I do?

Mr. Jeff

just get out and ride.

Nickels
05-26-2008, 09:57 PM
My brother had a bike. He showed me what everything did, and let me ride his bike. Then i randomly rode friends bikes, then bought my own and thats how i got my experience.

i bought a 83 yamaha xs400 for $350. I got a good deal from a friend (i sold it for $700 the day after i put it for sale). Try and get something like that to learn on for a little bit. like a few months for something. Fall is usually a good time to buy because people are trying to get rid of their bikes for winter

Why did it take them so long to put FI on bikes/atvs and shit? My 79 SeVille has FI.

just look around for good deals.

You won't find a deal like this, but i got my 04 gsx-r for $750. But being so, 3-4k will find you something good for a beginner.

The word 'Their' spelled that way, shows ownership. IE, If your neighbor owns THEIR house. It is THEIRS. The proper spelling for the word there in your sentence would be theRE.

Just to let you know.

Anyone know of any other site to post my car for sale on? I have it on craiglist, autotrader and soon wheels for you. Is 14,500 really a bad asking price for my car? 03 gt with 50k miles...super clean. Someone help me out here....

i always have the best luck selling vehicles on forums for that type of car. sold my bronco on some bronco forum, my supra on supramania, and when i was thinking about selling my bike i had a guy on here who was going to buy it. try that

11k for a 03 gt with 71k.... base it off of that. i would say 13.5 would sell faster

Prodigy17
05-28-2008, 08:27 PM
I really think my car is worth 14k and I am not saying that just because it is my car. I have put 6k into this car and kept extremely good care of it, not to mention I never drive the thing! I just want a bike so bad, I am thinking about going the used route now btw....if I can find a 1-3 year old bike with less than 3k miles on it.

dude miles on a bike are nothing to worry about. my 93 has 35+k on it and keeps up with everyone on the road. ask anyone on here about it. i havea firend thats sell his 02 zx6r, 5k on it and has some here and there mods already installed. hes asking 5k for it, if you wanna go look at it lmk. i dont have any pics right now but its the stock kawi green. i'll let you hop on my bike so you can get the feel of it too.

Nickels

I believe average miles for bikes in nebraska is like 6k miles a year. My 05 has 12k on it.. so id say thats pretty low miles.. or at least average.
