Forgot to add that both my HB master, and clip-ons are from a 636. I know ryan will like that

Chet and I had the handbrake completely bled in under 10 minutes. That was surprising.

Will get pics up tuesday when I get the taillight mounted, and front fender bolted on.

To Do List:

Figure out why radiator fan doesn't work
Wire radiator fan to switch
Wire / Mount Tail light
Insure / Plate it

Also, the wheels are hella dirty / whatever happens to aluminum after a while lol. Pitted? Idk, im in the process of steel wooling / sanding / polishing them. Front one looks pretty dam good.

Still need to order my OMR subcage as well. And possibly a righteous clutch.

when can you ride this?

Burntz
04-26-2010, 04:48 AM
Well, I could ride it now. I rode it to SCC once. Underlying problem is that its not insured, not plated, and I STILL havn't gotten my dam endorsement. Plus no tail light

me = fail

I could truck it out to the spot. Which is what i'll do if all of these problems arn't fixed by friday

Doesnt matter. Just sell all the stock fairings and parts you wouldnt use then put that money into fresh new stunt parts. And you have a nice F4i thats not already been trashed.

I just picked up an 03.
954 front, hohey dual caliper, magura left hand master...etc etc.

stock f4i 2500
sell stock unneeded parts -500 ?
954 about 500+
hohey/magura new... 750?
total investment over 3k, EASY. (This is without cage, new clip ons, different light set up, subframe cage, stunt pegs...etc etc)
bike can be sold for.... 2k when your done because now its a stunt bike.

I used to agree with the buy a nice bike then stunt it out but it makes a lot more sense financially to buy the bike the way you want it.

IMO

Well lets compare:

Yours:
Clean title
Stock crap front end
Stock rearsets
Stock brake lines
Stock brakes
13k miles
Full fairing

Mine:
Clean Title
929 Front End ($500ish)
HoHey Rearsets ($185)
Braided Brake lines (~$150)
HoHey Dual Caliper Setup (Bracket: $200, plus caliper)
~3-5k miles
2nd owner
2 sets of side fairings, front fender, and can get upper for $50, plus I have the front stay / taillight

Thats not including the extra parts that came with: (those 2 sets of sides, clutch basket (sold for $60), brand new vortex stock front sprocket, back rim, and some other random shiz

I maybe spent a couple hundred on routine maintenance stuff: Brake pads, oil change, coolant
And I had to get a front master, stunt headlight and LED taillight. (100 total)

Im willing to bet, that if I took all the stunt parts off this bike, and returned it to stock. I could get 3300 for it and sell all the extra stuff / stunt parts for quite a bit too.

Appearences arn't everything. Thanks for playing.

Well for the same price i got a damn near complete bike, all that was missing was the intake tube covers, which you are missing as well.. and nothing else was broke or leaking or missing, just needed a cam chain tensioner, tires are also good unlike your bald ones , my radiator isnt jb welded together and i dont have mismatched fairings just to compare a few things. I also have no idea why anyone would want a 929 front end over a "crap " f4i front end.. its ugly; i know, i used to have a 929. Sure your bike may have come with some extras, but they arent new, they are used and abused and I wouldnt add a whole lot to the price of a bike because of those parts; you never get what you put into a bike or car when selling. All i was saying is I think you spent too much for the amount of work your bike needed and you got defensive... i wouldnt have paid over 1,500- 1,600 for that thing. Btw I could have done nothing to my bike and probably sold it for over 4 grand. Either way I already repainted it to my liking which would definately make it sell for over 4 easy... and also, if you wanted to return that to stock, then you need a new front end, headlight, seat, gas tank and rear tail.. so add that up as well. thanks for playing

See i dont think that one is too badly priced, if all that is wrong is a slightly bent sprocket, especially if he has all stock parts too.. the other one is just a mess for 2500 imo... once again no offence, but im sure the OP will take it that way anyways

ABA F4i.... you need to realize that the f4i jalbers bought was a stuntbike. the bike you bought was a used F4i. This is a huge difference.

for example...the reason you would want a 929 front end...is because they are inverted, less likely to break and are better for endos. who gives a fuck if its ugly! its a STUNT BIKE!

If you had put the 2k it would have taken to buy all the stunt parts that a previously stunted bike comes with then you would be way over invested. Like i said.... it is financially responsible to buy a bike set up the way you want it, not do it yourself.

Just like pat when he bought his R1 with a shit ton of aftermarket parts, or the 450 with a shit ton of aftermarket parts...and their f4i - fucking sweet ass stunt bike!

its just tricky with stunt bikes because you can hide a lot of problems that come up a couple weeks after you buy the bike. its a risk but when you can part a bike out and get more money out of it than you paid for the whole thing? whats to lose... just deal with the headache and stunt the shit!

I understand what you're saying completely, but someone just posted a comparable bike for less money that needed a ton less work... my orignal point was I think he spent a bit too much on that thing in reguards to all the work it needed to even be able to stunt it, which I still stand by. Agree with me or not it doesnt matter to me, I will find a better deal stunt bike or streetbike. I agree it is probably better to buy a bike already set up for stunt, but not when it is completely trashed and needs parts thrown at it left and right. either way i dont wanna argue anymore... continue the work log!!!!!

i would rather buy something that was all stock and not ridden hard, then a stunted out hunk of shit that had been through hell and back, then add my own stunt parts, that way i knew everything that had been done to it instead of having all these super sweet surprises about this or that was fucking jerry rigged.

Uh.. just what I remember off the top of my head
Light blue = one side of turn signals
Light orange = other side
Solid green = ground for like everything
Big red wire = ignition power
Black w/ brown tracer = power for rear brake lights n other shiz
White w/ green tracer = power to front master brake switch
Green w/ yellow tracer = wires from both brake switchs to the tail lights when u hit brake
Pink wire = goes from ECU to ignition

thats all i can remember right now im fking tired.

I should grab the book and put down all the wire colors in a post and make it a sticky haha.

As for this winter:
Full repaint / do some sweet decal shit. Want to PC the frame/swingarm/forks etc. Dunno if I'll go that far.
Rebuild the 929 forks
Get my spare radiator re-welded
Get a NDC radiator cage with mounts for 2nd fan. Keep original wired normal but hardwire 2nd.
And get some welding done on my subframe.
